I have been having trouble with my 325 as far as getting it to run right. I just recently replaced all the injectors and the fpr and it ran good for awhile around town. I took it out on the highway and I was going about 70mph for about 10 miles then it acted like I was out of gas. So I pulled over and the only thing that was wrong is I had smoke coming out of my air filter. When I tried to start it back up it turned over for awhile and then locked up. I'm assuming it locked up due to the cylinders filling up with gas cause it has done it before but I'm not positive yet. Can anyone help with me this?
New help with my 325e!

Smoke coming OUT of the air filter? Like out of the airbox housing?
Pull it and see if there's anything clogging it/the afm up?1988 Atlantisblau Euro/Japanese 325i Cabriolet

smoke out of the intake is usually a good indication that your timing is fucked up and you're backfiring through the intake.
check your cap and rotor. I highly doubt that something clogging the AFM and causing smoke.'84 318i M10B18 147- Safari Beige

I just put brand new injectors in them, so I'm not really wanting to spend more money on new ones. And no there's nothing clogging up the afm. And the only reason I wouldn't think it's the timing is because it has been running fine and then in the middle of driving it this happened.Comment

What about the cold start injector? I had a bad temp sensor and my cold start injector would stay on. My sensor was so far out of range it was ridiculous.sigpic

The picture isn't good enough to say whether the plug is burned, which would be caused by very lean operation, or mechanical damage, which would be caused by the cam jumping timing. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
