    opinions/ideas wanted

So I have a head 284/272 cam, ported, and all that. Now I need a bottom end.

    1. JE or CP Pistons. (10:25:1 or maybe 11:1) How much is the difference in real world terms? Need street drive-ability but I want to go big.

    2. 89.6mm crank (I'll look more into forged or cast (m54tu or something))

    3. Stock (i) rods just recondition them 135mm?

    4. Coated bearings and ARP hardware

    5. WHAT ELSE COULD BE DONE to the actual longlock? besides itb's, etc. for now I was planning on a miller war option.

I made some comments here that might apply here

Specifically with the bigger stroke 89.6mm crank and a 85mm bore, I would aim for a custom piston with the 8.8:1 stock dish-dome shape style piston with reduced compression height (to account for the longer stroke). This will approx result in a static CR of 10.5:1 and a DCR of 8.0:1 with 284/272 which is a good place to be.

JE can certainly do these pistons through TOP END,

You’d need to send CP a sample piston etc most likely.

IE can also do the dish dome OEM shape now and these are done by Ross AFAIK

For rods I’d get M52 or S52 rods which are same 135mm length but lighter and stronger and have better chance of clearing the bottom of the bore due to the slimmer shoulders if using a S52B32 or M54B30 crank. IIRC you can get ARP rod bolts for these to.

Honestly standard KS bearings are fine, ACL are a good bearing to use if you are set on using “race” bearings.

Crank scraper and baffle in the pan maybe…..

Thank you digger, there are just so many threads. Piston clarification is phenomenal. I'm going to try and get a better understand of the info you gave me, thanks.
