    Missing a plug..what is it?

    What's is this plug I'm missing? The car is running fine btw('87 325e) Thanks in advance

    I think it's an oil pressure sensor, not 100% though.

      Whatever connects to it, I'm missing it..and where does the connecting piece come from?

          100% the sensor for the low oil pressure light on the instrument cluster.

            at least in my car the wire for this comes down from the top front of the engine, where all the temperature switches and sensors are connected above the thermostat housing. A lone wire beside the cambelt cover.

                The wire runs down from the harness on the intake side, behind the fan (inside a plastic cover), then behind the plate that that the AC compressor mounts to. The space behind that plate is too narrow to pull the connector through, so I bet someone just ripped the end of the connector off by accident.

                I know this because I'm doing the head gasket change on my car right now. Having to take that stupid aluminum plate off just to move a wire was :crazy:

                  Pfft, that light turns on, you're already screwed. Looks like it is time to invest in a steam clean of the bottom of your engine so you can differentiate new leaks from old.

                    Yea..I got the car not to long ago..I'll be cleaning the under side here soon :-)...I don't have Steam cleaner, but I have degreaser, scrub brush and pressure washer...
