    Intermittent starting issues

So, I've been trying to work out a starting issue with my 2.7i, and I just cannot trace it down. Sometimes it doesn't want to start, especially when warm. I've had it just shut off when I'm driving down the highway. The kicker is, if I unplug the ICV and plug it back in, usually it will fire right up (have done this several times over the past couple weeks). I'm convinced that it's a non-spark related electrical issue.

    Things I've already replaced/tried:
Cleaning the Miller MAF (no WAR chip, just base tune that comes with it)

Replaced CPS (because it looked suspect)

Checked injector impedance (they all ohm out right around 15 +/- 10%)

    New plugs/wires/cap/rotor

    I am completely stumped...

Yup sounds like the exact same issue that I am having.. Being as I am not mechanically inclined I'll be following for an update.. Best of luck sir..

I had similar problems on my e30 and e28.

Start with double checking the engine ground cable. It runs from the oil pan to the frame rail on the drivers side. Be sure the cable is not corroded or oxidized and the connections are clean and secure.

If problems still happen, replace the starter assembly. I believe the starter solenoid will start to fail when the car is hot causing the "hot only-no start" condition.

Since replacing my starter and engine ground, it starts every time, all the time.

But will the starter solenoid cause it to kill while I'm driving down the highway? It has no problems cranking over, just doesn't always fire. The engine ground is on my to replace list (with some 4awg or larger wire).

I had a similar issue, i tried replacing many things and so i eventually made my way to the inline and external fuel pumps once i did those the problem went away. not to sure if it is your issue but it was mine.
