    Cooling System Questions

I've recently been working on improving the cooling on my M20, starting with a coolant flush and putting some good ol' BMW blue in. However, I have some other questions.

My coolant level sensor (on the expansion tank, yes?) keeps giving me problems, the check light comes on only when the engine is warm even when the level is fine. Would this be a reliable replacement? It's not OEM, which is worrisome.

Next is the fan clutch, it has gone bad and needs replaced. OEM is once again a bit spendy, but this is affordable, will it work nearly as well? Also, are any specific tools necessary to change it?

The aux fan is another concern, my mechanic had unplugged it at some point and said it wasn't really necessary, but after removing it and testing it I figure I might as well use it, though I'd like to know why it was unplugged...Only problem, I don't want to put the AC condenser back. how can I mount it to the car? I know euro brackets for this exist, but they're expensive and mostly unavailable. Would something like these work? I don't need an elegant solution, just something sturdy for what is my DD.

My final question, and it's of little concern, is how I can test my oil cooler. Though it's not leaking, it never warms up like I'd think it should.

Thanks for the help, forgive me for asking so many questions.

i never by the cheapest parts it is usually a false economy, id get something from middle of price range the febi level sensor, and sachs fan clutch as it is important.

i never buy URO or MTC brand anything unless thats all there is

Thanks for the help, I plan on getting the Febi sensor. How are Borg Warner fan clutches? Guten just got them in stock.

The oil cooler is thermostatically controlled. In ordinary street driving it is unlikely that the oil will ever get hot enough to open the thermostat.

You can get the Sachs (OEM supplier) from RMEuropean. It is more money ($92) but better quality. I'd get the OE level sensor from a a dealer. It isn't expensive.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
