Hello!
I recently bought a 1985 325e. It was idling high when I got it, and I can't seem to figure out what's causing it.
I just replaced
-distributor cap
-wires
-plugs
-fuel pressure regulator.
Put a smoke machine on it, can't find any vacuum leaks.
It runs much better now, but still has a steady, non-wondering, high idle. I can't say exactly what the rpm is, because the previous owner swapped in a b20b25 tach and apparently didn't swap in then cluster coding plug for the 2.7. I've tried cleaning out the ICV and that hasn't changed a thing. I also tryed adjusting the ICV but it was already cranked all the way down. When I pinch the hose that comes off the ICV and goes across the top of the engine, the idle drops down nice and low. After I saw that pinching it off dropped the idle, I tried unplugging the ICV at the little two pronged electrical connector, and the idle shot up much higher. Also, when I realized my FPR was bad, I checked out the AFM and it was damp with gas. Should I try and clean it?
Thanks for the help
Ben
