325es prefect open loop, closed loop super rich

    Hey Guys! *Perfect

Read all of the posts, and want an opinion. I keep fouling out plugs. I have new fuel filter, pressure regulator, cap/rotor, temp sensor, idle computer thing under glovebox you name it. I changed plugs and it runs perfectly when cold, the second it warms up it gets super rich and looses all throttle response and stalls out sometimes. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge yet, but I decided to test the fpr return line by running it to a container to see if there return line was potentially blocked. I managed to fill up a liter of fuel in less than 10 seconds...is this normal? When disconnecting the fpr vacuum hose it runs better, but still rich ( I am assuming more air is helping out, not the FPR since it is new).

Is there anyway to test my o2 sensor? Would this cause the super rich conditions when the car warms up? Do not want to keep throwing money at the car with false hopes that I can fix it.

    Thanks in advance!

unplug the O2 sensor and see if it helps

Just did, and it looks like the PO has already replaced the o2 sensor with a mustang version (guessing by the splices). It did not help or change the condition by unplugging.

For the first 3 minutes of driving when cold the car drives great, instant throttle response. The longer I drive after that point, the worse the throttle response gets until there is virtually none and it floods out. Again, I removed the fpr vacuum hose when this condition happens and the engine runs slightly better enough to not stall, and idles at about 1100 with that vacuum leak. I am getting stumped without having the pressure gauge.

      Any ideas?

        Bump!

Car runs great when cold and for the first minute or two, throttle response is crisp and no hesitation in acceleration. As the engine warms up, I have a large hesitation with the acceleration and black smoke out of the tailpipe.

The only thread that matches my problems ended with the guy switching engines to a 2.5i. I switched the FPR with a 325E from the junkyard with no issues. The car had VDO gauges while mine has motometer gauges, could this be an issue?

          Gauges won't be an issue.

Check out the cold start valve and see if that's leaking fuel in.
