Help Me Build the Ultimate HEAD!!!

Ok, one of my rockers broke somehow, and the valve got smashed. I wanted to do an S52 conversion, but all the mechanics at the repair place I go to recommended against it; one of them said he would be personally dissappointed if I did the swap. Also, it is kinda expensive to do. To me though, it seems kinda silly to dump more thousands into what seems to essentially be an unimpressive engine. I'm only 18 though I guess. :loco:

As a compromise, I am gonna upgrade the $hit outta the current head. Here's what I have in mind:
-Shrick 272 or 288 cams (Car is a DD)
    -Port/polish
-All new rockers and valve springs
    -New injectors?
    -New spark plugs?
-Does the JC chip need a reflash?
Is there anything else that I can replace or upgrade? What are the "best"/most heavy duty parts I can get for each?

Have fun with this; please put a price by each part though.

But it won't happen for several years (if ever), so I'm gonna just do the best I can with the current engine.

There's not a lot of potential for it. Much better results can be achieved if you go a different route.

Save money, be patient, and better thing will come later on.

just get a decent used head for like 200 bucks and be done with it. Start saving for the s50 afterwards.

Yea I know M20's have little power potential. However, I am currently not able to have a job and save money, so I will not be saving for an S50 anyway. It is my parents money.
It costs $400 to remove the head; I don't have the time or ability to do it myself. I'm already screwed enough with my stupid audio install; I'm almost mad that I ever started. 5 months w/o audio.
All I want is for you guys to choose some parts that will hopefully make me 20-30hp, while improving the reliability and operation of my motor. I may also do the MAF conversion combined with the injectors.
You guys tell me what would make the "ultimate head", and I'll prolly do it.
            Thanks

If you're going to spend that much money in the head just for such little gain, at least go M50. The cost of getting a new head rebuilt + mods is the same as just doing the M50 swap. You got your MAF conversion with the M50 as well as bigger injectors.

I mean, as in, an estimate. Are you telling me that I could swap in a decent M50 for 3K? Seems highly unlikely to me.

You could swap in a decent M50 for 3K, but only if you do it yourself. Forget about it if you have to pay for someone to put it in.

A built stroker is a pretty impressive motor. Not a bad way to go at all. You'd definitely end up with a better engine than a stock or even chipped M50, I bet.

Getting 20-30 hp is fairly difficult. You can get all these BS mods like CAI, headers, exhaust, and get a handful of horsepower.

Sure, you can get a lot of power from doing stuff to the head, but you should really do something to the bottom end. Again, this is the kind of work that you'd really have to do yourself to be able to afford.

                        To the bottom end...like what?

I would like to install a new engine with the help of my friends dad, but my friend almost got killed in a horrific accident a few weeks back, so now is probably not the best time to ask.

So... I'd still like your opinions on what to do to the head, and possibly the rest of the engine.

probably too much. Hahaha. I think you might be better off with a 2.7i, maybe.

Just get a used head and get it installed.
