    stroke this and smell it

    anyways , i got a 2.7 stroker i am told .I have looked at the head it says 2.7 , but i would like to know more , also have a loud ass slappy valve , should i get the valves adjusted ? no idea how many miles or how it was done .bought the car from a friends shop , a kid had built the motor and paid to putt it in but could not pay the bill so he gave them the title to wipe his bill , and they sold me the car. will take allot of photo's of the motor and post tomorrow any help would be great or and explanation on what to look for , i know m20 are sowing machine engines and get rattly but this is just one front valve

    what year and model is the car, and motor? (2.7 on the head isnt a good sign, but its possible he did I cam/valvesprings/motronic upgrade, to an eta head) yea, usually the first things you want to do to a car when you buy it (except if its positive its been done) is oil change, spark plugs, valve adjustment, timing belt, water pump, basic maintenance stuff.

    take your valve cover off and make sure nothings broken and adjust your valves.

      ok , thanks for the tips guys , i took the valve cover off today and checked clearance on each cylinder and it seems fine , looks like someone had done a little work in there . have done oil spark plugs , has new belt and pump already . still have one valve loud ticking kinda sucks , and now i found out who ever the hell tried to putt the AC Schnitzer cluster in , cutt the main speedo harness and i dont have the plug ...is it a stock normal plug or is it different for the AC cluster ...

          there are things like changing the motronic system and stuff i think thats whats done here , and because it is coming from the top end of the motor towards the front and its not a continuous rolling rattle its clapping so ya valve ..if you dont have legit info dont answer ...

            and again not the Original motor , this motor was swapped in , different engine management , and looks like it has had some headwork done , but do not have anything for comparison

              It looks like a totally stock 2.7 eta motor. It is likely still Motronic 1.1 as the cold start injector is still there. Does it have double valve springs or single?

                  When you had the valve cover off did you pay attention to the cam? If it has 4 bearings, it's a stock 2.7 eta. If it has 7, then someone put together a Frankenstein motor with an I can, but is still using motronic 1.0 fuel management. I hate to tell you, but that cold start valve, thin intake tubes, and 2.7 on the head all look like bone stock eta. The best you can hope for is some headwork, cam, and a chip.

                    cool thanks its doesnt matter that much to be as long as its a a running motor =) not the stock motor for the car thats for sure ..i will have to take a look at the injections system , all my warning lights are on and my check engine flashing =) and i was told because the motor doesnt used some of the same sensors that the old motor used =)

                      ok i thikn i know whats going on , would it be stupid for someone to putt a 2.7 eta head on a 2.5 block ? wtf would you do that > ?

                        OK who is in snohomish county who knows what there looking at , i need help with identifying what the hell this kid has done here =) any help would be great , i know some of the crap i have said has made no sense at all and sorry for that , idk what the hell this kid has done to this thing but its not stock ...

                          a 2.7L ETA (200) casting wont fit on the B25 bottom end the pistons will hit the head

                          its probably a plain old ETA
                          89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

                            Because your car has a cold start valve, it must be running the motronic 1.0 fuel injection system. That system does not have a check engine light. The 'check' light on the instrument cluster is alerting you to the check panel up above the rear view mirror. To clarify, you can have a perfectly running engine, but a brake light out, and the 'check' light will start flashing.

                            Could you post the last 7 digits of your cars Vin? That would indicate what engine your car was meant to have. It appears as if your car is a stock 325e with a stock 325e engine.

                              yeah it comes with a eta 2.7 , huh i will have to ask exactly what they did with the motor it mite be just a 2.7 with a cam or something im so confused =) so many check lights on but i run fine have oil and water ...my check panel looks like a Christmas tree
