I have to keep my foot partway on the throttle in order to start the car cold. In colder weather, I need to keep my foot on the throttle for a few minutes until it warms up enough to maintain idle. once warm, the car idles fine. i took the ICV out and cleaned it several times. I also tested the resistance values across the three pins and they all tested normal. I replaced the coolant temp sensor. I'm going to take the AFM out today to test the temp switch in that, but I was also looking into doing a smoke test for vacuum leaks. Only problem is I don't know of any shops locally (Wilkes-Barre, PA) that will do that. Any advice would be much appreciated, as winter is coming quick. Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I have replaced known working AFM, coolant temp sensor, ICV, and cold injector from my other e30. So it must be something else. I also check all the wiring leading to the ecu and idle control unit. I have the early eta.sigpic

I'm going to attempt looking for vacuum leaks when I get home. I'll get back to you guys with the source if I do find anything. Seems like the only thing if you've swapped in a working AFMComment

well I tested the AFM and the temperature sensor within it is definitely functioning properly. I tried looking for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner, but no luck. I'm trying to find a place locally that can do a smoke testComment
