^^^^^^ Pickin up this bad boy this weekend, already checked her out and went on a test drive with her.

It's the 2.7i super ETA bottom out of the 1988 e28 and then a 885 head out of a 325is.

With the motor the guy is also selling me the transmission, ECU, wiring harness, and anything else out of his e28 I need for the swap.

    I'm swapping this into my 1987 325e.

A few problems that I've been notified of already before the swap are:

that you possibly can't retro fit the wiring harness from the e28 into my car.

the wiring harness from my motor will not work because it is a 1.0 motronic.

the arm that mounts to the engine support bearings is different.

the shifter mounts differently on e28s and e30s so I'd just have to transfer the e28 shifter over..?

So please any of you who have done this SETA 2.7i swap id love to hear the problems that came to you during this swap or any tips of advice, any help with the problems I've already listed and just any guidance with this swap. It's the first swap I'm doing so I'm kind of nervous.
So please anything else I need or need to do also let me know.

Get an E30 325i wiring harness, E30 oil pan, shifter console and hope it has an early style water pump on the engine so you can use your existing early style radiator. It may or may not be worth the hassle to you.

So the shifter console and oil pan from my 325e should work correct? I'll get the wiring harness, and I believe it has a early model water pump, the same style radiator was in his car as in mine and my radiator is new so I hope so. Anything else?

I can't confirm if the e28 engine harness is different, you might want to try it out. The differences in the harness may not be significant.

The E28 harness is definitely different. I'd just get the correct E30 harness personally.

Any E30 M20 oil pan will work for you along with E30 M20 engine mount arms.

The E28 probably used a sheetmetal shifter console but the trans should have the provisions to use the later style aluminum shift carrier which your 87 should have come with.
