    part identification help!

    what is this? i tired searching on realoem but could not come up with something that looked like this. i had to pry my engine away from the machine shop half finished after waiting 2 months and still not getting anywhere. so everything is in pieces.

    Looks like the plug that goes into the hole on the left side of the engine near the front. Its where the distributor was on older M20s.

        okay what is the bearing on the inside for? can i just pop it back in or should i get a new one?

          The oil pump drive is also under this cap. The bearing is to support/locate it. You need the bearing in there. If it spins and feels OK I'd put it back in - never heard of one failing.
