    1986 325ES Getting it running

I just picked up 325ES and running into the trouble identifying the parts/sensors that are missing or wrong. I suspect previous owner try to use 325i parts, but run into the problems. There is one connector that appears does not have home…. but it is clearly 325E

My eta is stored currently so I'm going on memory.

As I recall there is an air temperature sensor on the engine side of the air filter box. That cable you are highlighting in the first picture should wrap around the front of the air filter box and plugs into that sensor. The eta's idle control system uses that as an input. There is no separate air temperature sensor on the "I" cars.

If your previous owner left you with an "I" air filter box that sensor won't be there.

Thank you that makes perfect sense. Part number on the Air Flow meter is 0 280 202 066 which is one of the "I"
