Hey! so I'm having quite an unfortunate problem with my awesome e30. I have an '87 325 (M20b27) and when I'm driving the car will randomly stop wanting to give me power. It has occurred right from start up and then sometimes it won't do it until a couple minutes into the drive. You can hear what is happening in the video link below. (i posted it on r3v Facebook because i don't have a youtube account).
VIDEO NOTES:
when you first hear the "rumbling" I'm flooring it in 3rd, not increasing speed. Then, when i downshift into second, the "rumbling" stops momentarily and starts again.
Also, you can see the dash for a few seconds in the video. The speedo is pretty accurate (within 5 mph). However, I have a super-eta tach in my not-super-eta, so there's some error in that too.
This weekend i took a look at the distributor and it looks super clean. However, I'm still thinking of replacing the distributer cap, rotor, plug wires, and plugs. What do you think?
please let me know if you have any ideas. It would be greatly appreciated! before this problem, this car was extremely reliable and i'm about to sell my daily, so it would be great to drive this until i buy a new one! haha.
