    Fuel Injector Removal Issues

So I noticed that I had a fuel leak from my #6 fuel injector, and possibly others. Being that the last time they were cleaned were at the 1200 mile service in 1987 and maybe when the head gasket was done in 1993 (according to the service records), I figured it must be time for a clean (professional clean, planning on sending them to MEPEH) and new seals. I'm still relatively new to the e30 world (got my first e30 a few months ago and have slowly been fixing stuff on it), so this is my first time taking the injectors out. Armed with Bentley, the Pelican autos e30 fuel injector cleaning how-to, and some other forums, I've been trying to get them out.
When the fuel rail came off, only #1, #2, and #5 came out of the intake with the rail, the rest stayed in the intake and instead detached from the rail. I tried and tried maneuvering the rail with the 3 injectors, but cannot get it to clear the gap between the intake and valve cover. I also took #1 off of the rail for more maneuverability. Am I doing something wrong here? Pictures attached.

Also, at this point I'm considering just taking the intake manifold off altogether and doing the gaskets. The manifold seems to have been poorly painted gold (and only the top half of it at that) by a PO and I'd like to get rid of that and either keep it stock unpainted aluminum or paint it matte-black. Also, there was a lot of greasy crap around the injectors and while I did clean that area before attempting to take them out, there is only so much I could do with the intake in the way, so I'm not sure if some crap could have potentially fallen into the injectors holes into the manifold, waiting to be sucked into the engine to scratch up my cylinder walls. Advice? Thanks...

You need to remove your valve cover. It'll give you a little more room to shimmy the fuel rail out.

Gotcha, will do. Any though regarding taking the intake off? Could stuff fall into the injector holes and scratch stuff up or am I being paranoid?

Being a pinch paranoid. Just plug up the holes with a bounty towel while servicing the injectors.
