    2.5 vs a 2.7 ..... question

i'm torn is it really worth it to swap out to a 2.7 bottom end ? is the gain enough verse the effort ? i have a 2.5 now was going to refresh it with some upgrades but i have the oppurtunity to get a 2.7 eta block is the torque gain enough to do the swap or can you get just as much out of the 2.5 ? curious to your opinions ......... thanks

What are the goals with your engine and car?

If your 2.5 is a good running engine I'd leave the bottom end as is personally.

I was going to freshen up the bottom end i picked up a set of euro pistons so originally i was going to do those pistons with a set of s50 rods i have . Also a ported head with a bimmer heads 284cam . But.... then i saw the 2.7 and was thinking of using the pistons with the eta rods. Im not sure the extra torque gain is worth all the effort .

          There's no replacement...

If you're going to the trouble of rebuilding an m20, it's not that much more effort to stroke it.

Yes i know but is the eta bottom end able to hold the higher revs ? Will the crank need balancing to make that happen? At. The moment i want to get with this portion of the build close to 200hp i know this setup wont bw quiet there . Later i will be turbochargering the car . Looking for 350-400hp should make this a real fun car to drive . I feel this is acheivable with the 2.5 . I think i saw ka motors did it with his and it was a auto . Yet the extra torque would be nice .

Absolutely no issue revving the Eta bottom end up to the 7k range. No special work needed.
