    PSA Check Your Motor Mounts

Recently bought an e30 and after a week of owning it and only driving it twice noticed some problems. First power steering was intermittent, then coolant leaking everywhere the next morning. Once looking under the hood noticed the power steering pulley was hitting the lower radiator hose this caused a hole in the lower hose and I'm assuming enough pressure to stop the pump. After taking radiator out I also noticed the fan had recently been hitting the fan shroud and radiator itself. During this recent tear down/familiazation with this engine bay noticed the motor mounts are completely shot, I assume they are the reason for all the trouble. I suggest you check your mounts.

Must be common, one of my mounts was completely split in two when I bought my e30. Nothing else was damaged, but you could definitely tell the engine was moving around way too much when I would get it on it hard. New OEM mounts have taken my daily abuse for 2 years with no problems so far.

my car had this issue as well. PO pushed the pump to its most closed adjustment position and purchased a smaller belt.
