    hartge h26 engine question

Going to start collecting all the items I need for rebuilding my h26 next year. It is running fine, but I am sure at some point it will need a rebuild.
So, would the h26, 323i built in 1984 need a special head gasket? It has the h26 head, and a 2.7 block.
    thanks,
    john

That depends on your bore. Your headgasket should match the cylinder bore. AFAIK the H26 motor had a stock 84mm bore.

It is a 84x76,80. This what I found for you John.
I will ask Frank what head gasket we used on my old H26.

        Thanks,

        Thanks for the replies:
I will get started on parts when I hear back so I get the correct headgasket. I assume the rest are basic 323i gaskets....at least they look to be. Bet the crank bearing are not standard, or maybe they are just normal 2.7 bearings....
        thanks,
        jm
