To add to this, if you have a K&N style filter, the oil can damage the sensor also.

    ATTENTION:

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT DONE SO, PLEASE DO SO AT THIS TIME

No blow by, fresh rebuilt like 3 months before I did the MAF swap and I'm not using an oiled filter. Also had an actual auto electrician solder up the wires as he just happened to be in my workshop at the right time.

Could bad earths/grounds, or an inconsistent voltage from the alternator possibly kill them?

I think I noticed some voltage issues the other day with fluctuating headlights at idle. This has only just started though, or only just become bad enough to cause fluctuating of headlight brightness. I did put a new voltage reg in the alternator at the same time I rebuilt the engine but I guess it's possible for new parts to be bad out of the box.

Maybe I've just been incredibly unlucky and got a couple of MAF sensors from a bad batch.

I don't have a MAF in mine- but with other cars...if its flaky- its best bet to replace it rather than trying to fix it. (As long as the wiring worked correctly before)

Mine has the K&N also, an older one. Major delay if you blip the throttle up from idle. Stupid mods!

I was thinking of doing a DIYPNP and then once I get it going, do the AFM delete and then there's room to get the filter angled down where the air is colder. Anyone have that setup?
