    M20 coolant flush...NO HEAT

    I'm going to flush the coolant with OEM blue because I have a small leak and don't just want to put more in because I don't know what's already in the system.

    My problem: I don't have heat in my e30.

    All the DIY's I've read say the heat needs to be turned on in order to bring everything up to temp to get air bubbles out.


    What are my options?????

    So have you actually drained the system yet?

    But yes, you leave the heat on and turn your blower on, so you can feel the heat.. Make sure the front of the car is jacked up on stands, so that the bleeder is the highest point. Will help get the air bubbles out. While filling the system, also keep it open.

      No the system is not drain....I don't have heat... The heater was removed...

        You can bleed the system without a heater core. Blasting the heat is only to give you confirmation of coolant circulating through the core. The blower motor being on or off makes no difference to the cooling system. If you had a heater core, all you would need to do is turn the temp selector to full heat. This opens the electronic heater core valve and lets in hot coolant from the engine.

        Jacking up the front of the car is REQUIRED. I have tried to bleed mine on the ground multiple times, and it's never worked.

          If the heater core was removed and the hoses re-plumbed you don't need to do anything different to bleed the system other than not having to turn on the heater.
