Hose off of waterpump keeps leaking

With a new waterpump and waterpump to thermostat housing hose. I can't seem to get those to seal right even when clamped as tight as possible onto the pump. It seems like the notches in the water pump keep parts of the hose uneven. Not sure why they are even there. Anyone else have this problem? Seems simple to fix just can't get it right

I had that happen with a moulded radiator fitting- turned out there was a line of casting
flash that hadn't been cut off, and it was making a line for water to seep out. I finally
pulled the rad to look for cracks, and saw the trail the water had been following on the inside
of the hose. A little work with the mattknife, and it sealed up fine.
I can see how that might happen with the casting lines on the waterpump nipple, too.
BMW loves those ridges, but they sometimes make things worse...

Check the housing itself--mine had a lot of scale built up on the aluminum and that made it hard to get the hose to seal tightly. Almost killed my engine when the hose popped off the first time I tried to drive it to work after the head gasket replacement. Kind of ruins your day.

I actually blew my head gasket the first time due to wastegate failure and the compressed air from the cylinder went into my coolant jacket blowing the hose off from the water pump and my turbo sucked in so much coolant lol. I kept adjusting it and tightening the hell out of it now it doesn't leak. Thanks for the help!
