about 2 years ago, i bought an 88 ix and am just now getting around to restoring it. the car has never run right since i have owned it. the engine would always start and run, but when stepping up the rpms, the engine would always bog out, miss, and backfire. it throws a check engine code for throttle posiition sensor. i replaced that sensor twice as well as pretty much every other sensor under the hood.
since i plan to daily drive it in colorado this winter, i decided to start over from the "null" point. new timing belt corectly positioned, water pump, etc. this didn't change the way the engine ran, so i decided to replace the wiring harness and dme with one from a parts car. while i was in there, i pulled off the intake manifold to replace the gaskets and to paint.
i started putting it all back together yesterday and i was noticing that the plug for the tps sensor and idle control valve are in the same location on the harness and also appear to be the same plug. this makes me wonder if the previous owner had these two plugs hooked up backwards? i have not had the chance to check the etk and will do so shortly. i was just wondering if any other members have had this experience?
