    Head damaged

Was taking apart my head for a rebuild, and came across a crack in the intake rocker shaft journal. Aswell the cam journals look really worn and scratched, and some of the exhaust rocker shaft journals are scratched.
I have another head, but wanted to sell that as a complete engine but guess not now.

How many miles where on the head?
Did this happen with the stock cam?
You could always just buy another head and just keep your other motor intact since a m20 bottom end by it self is basically worthless

I have another 325i head already. (Well a complete engine). I'm doing a 2.7i so I have the E bottom end in the car now.
The 325i engine that came out of my car had close to 300k. I never heard or saw the car run, bought it with some things apart already.
        On the stock cam yes.

That head has already broken once and been rewelded-
probably from the timing belt breaking.

The journals don't look unusually bad, but the cracks make it a boat anchor.

How can you tell it's been welded? From the rough looking texture around the rocker shaft journal.
The cam journals looked better in the picture compared to in person.
When looking closer with an led light I could see a hairline crack in the cam journal under that rocker shaft journal.

There are a couple of things that make me think it's been welded- the hole's been wallered
out with a... rabid beaver on crack?
The side of the tower's got a bulge in it, and the bulge has been partially machined away.
The surface texture of the tower itself has been messed with (wire wheel?)
And it's too hard- the washer didn't sink into the texture on the top of the
              tower at all.

              Just guessing, of course.
