    Intermittent missing

    Hey guys,

I have a problem with my 86es (all stock m20 afaik). Under moderate to heavy acceleration the car has a miss, not all the time though. Also, sometimes it feels like it drops a cylinder, hard enough that the whole car jerks. It seems to do it only above 3K and when I am at about 1/2 throttle. If I accelerate easy it doesn't seem to do it. Where should I start looking? Most of the ignition parts "look" recent (not super grimey, etc).

    Thanks

Try the big rubber "L" shaped hose going into the throttle body.
It may have a crack on the underside. It also sounds like a fuel pump starting to fail. Check fuel pressure.

It might be the fuel pumps, it is really inconsistent. I drove it home today and it didn't do it once. Did it twice on the way into work in the morning though.

Bad AFM can also do this. Sudden and brief power loss.

Hmmm. The previous owner was having a problem with the car and had a shop replace a bunch of parts on the car trying to figure it out. I think they did this. I'd have to look at the paper work I got with the car.
