    Engine dying at speed (intermittent)

    Hi all,

Been having this problem with my 91 325i the last month or so where maybe once or twice in my trip to work and back. It happens almost exclusively at highways speeds. What happens is I can be cruising along at 60mph with partial throttle on and if someone changes lanes in front of me and I back off the throttle the car will die. Being an auto, the revs crash pretty dramatically and the CEL flashes on then it picks up again without a single noise and carries on like normal.

Even if I try to provoke it I can't make it happen. I was thinking fuel pressure regulator but unsure.

Things I have replaced in the last 3000mi related to spark/fuel:

    - Spark plugs,
    - Leads
    - Distributor cap and rotor
    - Injectors

Tried searching and haven't come up with much yet.

    Any ideas?

Do a stomp test, read codes.

Sounds like CPS or AFM but test things

Tried doing the stomp test on a few different occasions but haven't been able to get it to work.

        How does it idle?
        AWD > RWD

Steady, maybe a slight wander that is barely measurable. Very occasional blip of a miss if it idles in one spot for 5mins.
