    Oil pump installation - jackshaft spacers

    I am replacing an oil pump in an m20. I have the pump and jackshaft but appear to be missing part number 11411280950 which is a called "stopper". There are two on each end of the jackshaft.

    Part number 11 on real OEM diagram.

    Does anyone know what these are or do or where I can get them?

    Can't figure out what they do or if they can be omitted..

    Some M20's had them, some did not. You can omit them if you want, the hex shaped portion of the shaft bottoms out long before any bushing could be useful.

      if you slide the stoppers hard against the middle bigger diameter portion and install the shaft you can still move the shaft up and down axially. so then slide both the stoppers away from the bigger diameter part of the shaft so they act as sort of like an axially locator or thrust stop (not that there is any real thrust load except its self weight) so that there is an equal engagement of the male hex and the female socket at both ends (the female sockets are at the pump and the gear 18 ).

      this is just my theory and tbh i doubt it matters if they are used or not as long as the hex shaft engages properly with the gear 18 as like said before it tends to want to slide all the way into the pump

        I thought perhaps it would be ok to leave them out. It appears to me they are just there to prevent metal to metal contact of the shaft and pump or intermediate shaft in the event of axial movement.
