Removed the head off of my m20 to do the gasket and just wanted to make sure these Pistons would be okay to use. I'm fairly certain those grooves shouldn't be there but I can't be sure thanks

get a 3M bristle disk and clean them up with a drill. But they aren't damaged, just dirty. Looks like this, super easy to do:
be sure to vacuum out any bits from the edges of the pistons, although it's basically just carbon so it can't really hurt anything. -
