Engine Random cutoff above 5000 rpm

I've been having this issue lately with my e30 in the case that when I start it in the morning it does not want to turn over when cold. The only way to get it to start is to give it some throttle right after cranking it over and to let it warm up for a few moments. Also occasionally when shifting while the engine is cold, the check engine light will illuminate and it will hesitate when pushing the the clutch to switch to last gear. Lastly, when trying to accelerate above 5000 rpm, whether the engine is cold or not, it will lose all power and the check engine light will come back on. Car does not stall but has completely locks up until the clutch is pushed in and the car is shifted to a higher gear. Crankshaft position sensor was just changed as I thought this was the issue. Does anybody have any idea as to what it could be? Thank you in advanced!

Sounds like you have a few concurrent issues.

I would check for vacuum leaks and maybe test your cap, rotor, and ignition coil.

I don't have any ideas about what is associated with your clutch. Maybe a sticking pressure plate.

Turn over is the same as crank over, so you mean it won't start without throttle input? I agree checking the ignition components and having a shop run a smoke test would be good idea . The issue while shifting sounds like the car stalls or almost stalls; see above and possibly the injectors.

As a side note, the engine should never be above 5000 rpm before operating temperature. If E30s had oil pressure gauges it would be easy to see why.
