    Throttle cable Adjustment Screw WTF

This is a weird one, maybe even a little stupid but wanted to share. Just pin pointed today. I have a manual transmission. After doing significant work to the intake side over the past 6 months i have been have trouble sorting out my idle. Its high and hunting a bit. The intake mani and throttle body has been disassembled and thoroughly cleaning and most things replaced, including a NEW tps that took months to show up. ICV is original but clean working working well. I messed with the throttle cable adjustment screw(plastic one). Never did touch the stop screw on the throttle body itself. Anyhow come to find out I didn't do a very good job adjusting everything when i put it back together. This past weekend got it all sorted(with some help from r3v), car idles perfect and off idle response is better than ever.

When driving the car around, going WOT a bit, having some fun I find the idle is high. its around 1.2k when i get to a light. After examining, looks like the throttle cable adjustment screw is tighter than it was... back it off, you can see the plate assembly moving back then the tps clicks and idle is back to perfect. Rinse and repeat. This is a verified phenomenon after 4 times. Marking the spot, it is definitely screwing itself back in! Seems mainly happening after WOT. I am going to get a new screw this one might be a bit loose now after removing it. What i don't get is how this is screwing itself back in, if stripped it would obviously slide out. Vibrations... idk. anyone had this problem?

Adjust it when the engine is hot, thermal expansion is a thing.

forgot to reply back. your answer was the key. This lock nut was missing I was unaware of it's existence. Was apparent when the new cable arrived. Had adjusted the screw at temp pretty much every time. I still think its a rather interesting occurrence. thanks for the help
