i just tracked this whole issue down and it turned out to be the CPS, which was a relatively new Meyle unit. it failed by grounding and one of the magnets was an open circuit. If you're only checking for reistance at pin 48, you might want to try 47 too, as that's the other magnet. THis was my problem, you say the CPS is brand new, but the problems you list point straight at the CPS, which I denied for so long being I had recently replaced mine.

    Cheers.

From 47 to 48 I have 540 ohms, from 47 to ground I have 540 ohms. From 48 to ground I have less than an ohm. I don't see anything wrong with the distributor and I guess I'll buy another cps so I can rule that out...

2nd brand new cps installed, no difference. I also installed a new oil pressure sensor. My oil level is fine, but the overhead warning light is still on... Not sure why that would be. I also checked the functionality of the temp sensors and followed this chart:

To no avail. I went back through all my fuses too. Not sure what else there is at this point.... Running out of ideas.

It might be time to stop and go back a little to some more basic testing.

Sounds like you have fuel but just to confirm ignition, fuel delivery & fuel metering are working:

          1) If you open the intake boot, fire some easy start into the intake with the throttle open and crank the engine - what happens ? While you have the intake boot open check that it isn't saturated with fuel (possible FPR failure).

          - If the engine starts briefly then ignition is good but fuel delivery or metering is not.

          2) When cranking the engine are you getting 12v to fuse 11 ?

          - If you get 12v when cranking then the CPS is functioning, the DME is seeing the CPS signal and sending power to the fuel pump.

Next test set is based on the outcome of 1 & 2.

So I went to check 12V on fuse 11, as suggested, and I think the simple act of pushing down on the fuse fixed it because as my buddy pushed down on the fuse I cranked it and it immediately started no problem. So yeah. I guess the fuse wasn't making great contact...

yeah the simple act of pushing on it with the multimeter lead fixed it... I guess this is why some people rebuild their fuse boxes....

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll try to post pictures once it is back on the road.
