    Crankshaft Position Sensor

    Hello,
I have been researching CPS failure and decided to post my car's issue. 1990 e30 325i.
It has spark, fuel pump is working, fuel pump relay has tested OK, just replaced fuel filter. I also checked the fuse back by the battery and all other fuses in engine bay. What else could it be other than CPS ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If it's sparking, it's not the crank position sensor- when that goes,
it doesn't spark, since it doesn't have timing information.

    Fuel pressure?

You didn't say what the problem is.
      Does your car run?

        Quick diagnostics:

Easiest proof of CPS life is check fuse 11 when cranking, if you're getting 12 volts then your CPS is good and the DME is seeing the engine rotation signal.

Ziptie a spare spark plug to the front engine lifting bracket and connect a spark plug lead.

You can do both these tests on your own.
