    This is my prediction:

    1. You're going to strip everything down.
    2. Realize you're lost, post online.
    3. Dream.
    4. Shop for parts.
    5. Realize you're going to have to spend way over a grand to do this.
    6. Realize the shitty V6 in your mustang will make way more power if you put a grand into it.
    7. Do nothing with either motor in the end.

This thread has turned quite depressing. Here I was thinking the Bimmer community wasn't full of pessimists...:???:

What you call pessimism is actually realism.

You are starting with a motor you know NOTHING about. Not even the kind of engine... well .. it is a six cylinder, inline right? Good start.

Perhaps you know the same about this engine as the Mustang's original engine?

Dude, you either started tearing apart the motor for before knowing anything about it, which is a terrible idea.

          OR

You got the motor already in a torn down state, knowing nothing about the motor or whether it's even complete, which is also a terrible idea.

If you want your idea to work, you need a motor that was running before you pulled it, because you're going to be troubleshooting a shit ton of electrical bullshit and it would be hilarious (read: giant waste of time) if the reason your motor is not running well is because the crankshaft main bearings were shot.
