Poor sounding startup followed by no start

Got my battery tested and it tested out good , however followed by that about a week before my car would occasionally not start , then i check fhe starter and one of the yellow wires to it weren't connected . Connected it and it starts right up. After that, however my battery light becomes dimly lit on the cluster ; and every start after sounded worse and worse unless of course i charged my battery up some. Now it will not start at all as if my starter connections werent plugged in , but they are. No spark or crank is going on. I have tried hitting the starter as well.

It would be a big help to know what car this is...

My first guess would be failing alternator. Have it tested. But the problem could be more complex. In which case you need a shop to diagnose the problem.

Definitely sounds like a failing alternator that isnt keeping the battery charged.

Can you charge the battery or jump it and then will the car start?

Nope, i turn the key, nothing happens, i've also jump started with the same result.

I have no doubt that it could be a failing alt, but in other cases my battery would be dead and at the key turn the dash lights will dim and the car will occasionally crank , also the melody in key sitting 2 would distort.

Now: battery still good , starter i assume isn't doing anything

What did you find out, JeLani? I'm betting on the alternator. Unless you have a huge parasitic drain somewhere.

I reckon i have a few things electrically wrong with my car to be honest. Had dead LED lights in the cluster that i have been warned would drain my starter.. And probably a parasatic drain..
