SOLVED: Half-power, bucking, 500rpm idle, won't rev past ~5K

    this is exciting to see!! my car has been sluggish for quite some time... not quite as bad, but still shitty. and I have ran through every step you have. and guess what. my crank bolt is loose too!! ha!! I guess ill jack the car up on Monday and check the woodruff key!

        So turns out, this was my EXACT problem... Removed the timing belt only to find the crank pulley would spin back and fourth more than one tooth!! Used a puller to get the pulley off and the woodruff key was folded over and had damaged both the crank AND pulley keyways.
        Loctite 660 "quick metal" and the primer spray to repair the keyways and help hold the key in place during reassembly. Torque to spec and Reinstall all timing belt components etc.

        On one hand I'm PISSED that it took me this long to find the root cause of ALL my cars problems...

        On the other hand it was a super cheap repair and it's like a new car all together...

          That's EXACTLY how I felt - but trust me, the happiness of having a good running car will soon outweigh the frustration of the diagnosis PITA!!

          I'm stoked that you were able to get it back running well!
