Ran m20 with no oil, now sounds terrible😳

No, my good sir. Use 20w-50 ASAP. I use Castrol 20w-50 in the summer and I used rotella t5 15w-40 this last winter. Ran just fine. Don't play with your engine, give it what it needs.

10W-30 is probably a little thin for summer in an m20 would depend how hot the oil gets though. a xxW-50 or xx-40 is much preferred. this is for a normal engine to.

they have 20W-70 around these parts id be throwing it in in the OP situation

Yeah, for an engine that's had bearing damage, I'd go the other way
and see if you can find some 20-60...

Most of us use 20-50.

And oil loss usually kills the bottom end first. Rod bearings, usually.
Sometimes it'll wipe out a cam journal, too.

Oil. Water. Everything else is (usually) pretty negotiable...

M20's can take some abuse, but they dont sound like a diesel and live very long in my experience well no gas engine does for that matter....

OP when you drained the oil did it look like bass boat hull..... Have a Glitter look to it???? You do know that the M20 calls for a 20w50 weight engine oil right????

It was straight black. No pearlescent look to it or glitter. And no I didn't know that. I'll drain it again and throw in some

Does JC Whitney still sell the engine overhaul kit with the miracle metal plating pellets you drop into your spark plug holes, and the can of magic elixir you pour in your crankcase? That's what this guy needs, fer shurr!!! ;)
