    Timing belt rubbing?

anyone ever have their timing belt rub on the timing cover? sounds like a belt chirp, not all the time but it annoys me when it happens.

happened to me and grenaded my engine. it ended up being the oil pump drive gear bolt came loose and the belt was cocked to the side, wore a groove in the cover before finally skipping a tooth on the timing gear

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Wow I was just getting ready to post about this and seen yours. My car has been doing this for about 3 years now, I checked the forums then and found nothing, started randomly after a timing belt change. Only does it while cold and fades as the car warms up. After a year or 2 I did another belt change thinking maybe it was a bad tensioner or something. Put it back together and it retuned a few days later. So I'll say now that changing out your belt/tensioner probably won't fix the issue. Something somewhere is touching it or going out, Keep an eye on it because If will fray up the belt over time. Keep us posted on your findings though, in about a week or 2 I'm going to take another stab at it while doing a partial rebuild.

Update: I think I see the posts about the tensioner. Guess it could be a possibility which is dumb because mines was brand new.
