'87 G260 behind '90 m20??

Hey guys! Im looking for a new transmission for my 1990 325i and for some reason its been a pain trying to find one. But I found an '87 g260 that came out of a 535i. Now im not conpletely certain on the facts but I read that the late model and early model getrag 260's are slightly different like the bellhousing depths and shifter linkage.
I would just like some clarification. Would I be able to run the 87 transmission in my late model 325i? Thanks guys!!

Nope. That trans will have the M10/M30 bellhousing on it.

If it's a 535 than no but if it's a e28 528e with an m20 then yes but on some you may have to replace output flange on the gearbox
