Every time I've replaced an M20 cam belt (four times, I think) the old belt was flopping loose. Is this typical? It makes sense that with a fixed tensioner position, any wear or stretching will loosen the belt, but how much is acceptable? I do try to tighten the tensioner with the engine rotated to have max tension on the side opposite the tensioner.

Usually fairly loose if you use the twist method on install.
