Doing the belts among other things. Ordered belts from pelican parts and now they seem to not fit. Went back online and apparently they have several sizes for each belt. So which ones are correct?
I just bought a Conti tech belt package that was "compatible":
10x965
10x825
13x810
Can't even fit the alternator belt on with the adjusting rack removed....
ok, finally ran across this thread: http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...-t-fit-88-325e
looks like people are saying its a tough fit even with the unit as far in as it goes. I have to apparently 'roll' it on or get it sort of started and then turn the crank? Everyone says they 'bump' the engine to have it apply force to things such as getting this belt on, or removing the fan, or removing the crank bolt. That sounds extremely sketchy to me, so I will stick with hand turning
ok. turns out you want to put it over the crank pulley LAST. this somehow makes it work perfectly, didn't have to even stretch it on. I feel silly now.
Got a crowsfoot metric set + a 20-200 inch pound torque wrench today from harbor freight for 30 bucks. Hell yeah
