325ix leaking coolant near a/c condenser

    Hello all,

I have been searching the forums to try to find a car having (or had) a similar symptom to mine.

I have a 325ix that started leaking coolant today. It left a well size puddle, which allowed me to find the location of the leak.

The leak seems dripping from from the underside of the a/c condenser. when I wiggle the condenser, tons of coolant leaks out, but when I position it on its neutral position the leaking stops.

I can't get a good enough look to see if the radiator is simply busted and coolant is coming off of the condenser.

Unfortunately I live in a condo so I can't tear my car apart until I get it into a bay. I am planning to order a radiator as I think it may be the main culprit, but any other thoughts?

I am also planning on removing my a/c condenser as the compressor has already been removed and I have no a/c.

Please let me know if I should be aware of any other items when addressing this leak.

    Thanks in advance.

perhaps a hole you the radiator core?

really the only way to know is to take it apart.

You've got a hole there, obviously. It seems the condenser is covering it, but if the car were running, coolant would be pouring out. Obviously you need to replace the radiator.

It might be a better idea to install an AC compressor and then have AC. Go forward, not backwards. Of course, you live in WA, maybe you really don't care about AC.

there's a hole in your rad and it's dripping down onto the condenser. The a/c system doesn't use antifreeze

Thank you for your inputs. I'll be picking up a new radiator tomorrow and installing it.

Kershaw, the PO removed some of the components from the AC system and I'm not sure what is still functional in the system. I haven't had AC through this summer so I think I might be able to manage :)

Pulled out the radiator today and sure enough, it had a huge gash on the other side.

I'm went ahead and kept the condenser in there in case I ever decide to reinstall one.
