    m20 Noise After 3500 rpm

Over the past few weeks my m20b27 has developed a noise in all gears when the rpms go past 3500 rpm. Its kind of a high pitched squeal. Any ideas on what this could be? I haven't noticed any vibrations or anything else.

Where is the noise coming from?

      How old are your belts?

noise is coming from the front of the car, not sure how old the belts are. bought it earlier this summer. i cant imagine there is a way to determine age of the belts.

There is. Replace them all! Most importantly the timing belt!

Belts actually have a date stamp on them although that won't tell you if they sat on a shelf for a decade. If they have any signs of cracking or wear change them otherwise I'd make sure they are tight and try some belt dressing to see if that fixes it...then change them :)
