Which way to drain coolant from heater hose ?

I currently have the long hose that goes from the thermostat housing to the firewall heater core nipple cracked with a small leak. Currently trying to figure out the best way to drain the coolant so it doesn't remain in that certain hose. Would draining the coolant from the radiator or engine block be the best way ? Or just drain it straight from the hose by loosening the hose clamp ?

you can just pull the heater hose off and whatever falls out will fall out, they you just have to top it off but if its been a while since you've serviced your cooling system maybe you should just drain the radiator and block and fill it all new.

It's actually new since I just did a headgasket rebuild on it. So the coolant barely has about 2000 miles Along with it

Drain it through the radiator and use a paint strainer to filter it if you want to reuse.
