    first 325e engine

    Hey guys,
i just got my first 86 e30 325e and i ripped the head off and replacing the valves. after i took my head off i notices ware marks in the top of the piston. i was wondering it is normal or a super bad? is so bad is worth digging deeper into the block to make sure everything else is alright?
    thanks

It kinda depends on if you like living life on the edge or would rather be coddled in a warm security blanket. Personally, I like my security blanket.

Have you driven the car? Checked the oil for metal? Performed a leak-down?

    EDIT: Welcome to R3V.

If you're doing valves because they hit pistons, you're probably ok.

Big divots, however, can make rings bind...
