    No start

Hey guys, I have a 1985 325e and it was running fine until it started sputtering, then when I applied the gas, it sputtered more and eventually died. When I turn the key, I can hear the fuel pumps turn on, the lights are on but when I turn the key, the lights go dim. Could this be a battery issue or starter or alternator? I originally thought that it was because the motor might have overheated, I smelled coolant and saw some leak from under the car. Car has always ran fine. Any suggestions? Any ideas on what it could be?

Best plan of attack is to search this forum for "no start" issues. That will turn over results much faster than starting a thread. Every no start issue has been addressed, a bunch of times.

But, maybe I can help you out..

Is it cranking, or is it a no crank situation??

Check the battery voltage. It sounds like your alternator took a shit.
