    Hole in Cyl Head...

    Hello -

Without going into detail of how or why, a failed attempt to re-thread the upper timing cover bolt hole has resulted in what was a blind bolt now poking through into the cylinder head from the front of the engine.

It is difficult to see in the picture but the blue circle is the timing cover bolt hole now poking all the way through into the middle.

Ideas? or is this head shot?

Best way to find out is to plug it up and see. If it were your block, then you'd have problems. But your head isn't holding anything in but oil. No vacuum or pressure. Could be wrong though.

You could probably clean that really well with some electrical contact cleaner and just fill and cover it with JB Weld.

Using loctite hydraulic sealant on the threads of that screw would also work. Again you'd want to clean the threads and screw really well.

I may try the loctite option. Thanks for the rec.
