    Aluminum intake manifold cleaning

    Hello everyone.
I'm dismantling my M20B20 since it needs a new head gasket.
I removed the intake manifold and it's full of deposits inside and would like to clean it up. With common degreaser it seems to be an hard job, the deposits are somewhere thick and resistant. I would avoid any solvents not to hurt the aluminum.
Do you have any product or trick to suggest?

Use a degreaser and brush to agitate. Then power wash it clean.

Wheel cleaner for aluminum wheels should be fine.

You can also try using a dremel with a wire brush attachment. That will clean it really well.

Wear a mask and eye protection though.

Media blasting is the easiest. Have a shop do it for under $100.
