Having trouble relieving tension for AC belt

Hi guys! Started my timing belt and water pump job tonight. Currently staring at the timing belt and water pump but the ac belt is in the way.

    What I’ve done:
Loosen all 3 13 mm nuts
Tried to twist the 19mm bolt counter clockwise and as soon as I see the belt tension relax the teeth slips and it’s tight again.

What do I need to do to fix the tensioner or is there another way to relieve the tension so I can remove the ac belt?

After the ac belt comes off, I can remove the water pump and line up the timing and finish up this job!

    Please help with some alternatives!

I'm pretty sure you can remove the nut with the teeth on it to get the tension off.

Thanks for the response, so if I remove the saucer bolt, that ac free up enough to remove the belt? I will give that a try today.

The toothed adjuster nut will only work if there is virtually no tension on any of the compressor securing bolts. If any are still tight you have to loosen them...period. If you do use the adjuster nut (which is nice when it works as intended) dont loosen it too much or it will not catch the teeth.

Having said all of that, I just removed and replaced an AC belt without loosening anything my slipping a flat screwdriver between the belt and pulley then rotating the engine w a 22mm socket on the crank. Not ideal but worked.

Plan C is to just cut the old belt off and worry about the new belt when the time comes

Got two tips on using a flat head and spinning the crank. I will try that today. Thank you for your response!

There are two lengths of AC belts, 810mm and 823mm (same width, different length).

The 810mm is too short to put or or take off by just untensioning the AC compressor.

            64521706826 (810mm)
            64551722990 and 64551722991 (823mm).

It's feasible that you may be running a 810mm, in which case I would recommend you cut it and install a 823mm.
