    m20b27 swap into 318iS

    Hey! I swapped m20b27 into my `89 318iS.
I have ECU #173 with Motronic engine wiring and Lamda.

Now there is one problem... there is no fuel and no spark?!?!?

    Engine turns with starter... fine...

Maybe u have some hint - to give me?
    What should I check?

If there's power on the DME (manin relay or fuse?) it would sound to be a problem with the timing reference sensors. Those are mounted in the bellhousing on this engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Why and how are you using a 173 ECU on an m20b27? Are you actually using motronic 1.3? And how exactly did you make 1.3 work on an m20b27? And why? I'm very confused by all of this.

Beyond all of that, why would you swap in a less powerful motor?

        that`s a build b27 - with b25 engine head and intake.
aslo i have rpm meter at front of engine. not any wires connected to gearbox.

That engine i bought from a guy who build and drived this engine. with same ECU only - wiring was different. -

At least if no one knows about some kind off stuff, to put some relays or fuses in box, then i`ll try another engine wiring kit. If there will be no changes, then i`ll try to put all fuse box full with fuses :D

my problem is somewhere in wiring...
          looked at the wiring...
          C101 - connector - yes?

          ok...
below is my 318iS m42 wiring - it has 11 wires incoming.
above ir m20b25 - motronic wiring - it has 16 wires at connector.

also rpm meter is @ engine front...

          there`s everythings ok...

Now i don`t really know, what to think about...

          ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

          someone had problem like that?

Which year engine harness are you running? if it's the older one with round plug, there is a 3 pin connector near the ECU, on your cars harness those 3 wires are located to c101.

If you have that connector near the ecus, jump the green wire to another green wire which is located to c101 and it should fire.

If thats the case your RPM and MPG gauges will not work either, but I'll give more info if this is your scenario.

I ran motronic 1.3 on my eta, made some decent power too with a nicely built head.

The above post is not true. You need to check to make sure your main relay is getting switched power. It should be hot all the time (solid red wire) and then the switched power will turn on your coil and fuel pump, injectors, etc (red/white wire). Sounds to me like your red/white wire is not getting power. Probably missed a power wire at the distribution block. This will allow the engine to turn over, but not turn on any electronics.
