    valve help

just got my head reinstalled after gettin it back from the machine shop, all new seals and gaskets put on. my mechanic said he set the valves to bmw factory standards but they are still producing a VERY loud ticking noise. my question is what should the valves be set at if i have a shrick 272 cam and bigger injectors and whatnot for the 2.7 stroker. it pulls pretty hard right now but i need get the valves right, hopefully make even more of a difference

Well I dont know for sure but in my experience bigger injectors do tick more. You might be hearing injector noise.

Were the valves set w/ the head off the engine? I've found that they end up being too tight that way.

did you check for valve clearance (between the piston and valve)?

Is your cam a regrind? If it is a performance cam, make sure it uses the stock base circle.

if you've already done a valve adjustment then its probably your injectors. mine ticked (still do) so i did a valve adjustment and it didnt get better so i did it a second time just to make sure and maybe re-adjusted one valve and nothing so i guess just clean your injectors. its pretty easy and straightforward to get to them.
