I been using the turner alum cupped mnts. Vibs during idle can be a bit more than stock but when combined with AKG E21 alum cupped tranny mnts the whole drive train engine acts as one unit in unison. Shifts become a pleasure.

I have ordered stuff from AKG from 2 different times and both times they shipped VERY gast. They use USPS Priority and they are located in Illinois. It took a day or 2 to get to me in Indianapolis, IN. I called them to ask a question about the motor mounts and the guy was very helpful. They never answer their phone though, leave a message and they will actually call you back in an hour or 2! To install the motor mounts, youll need to remove the 2 metal brackets that are around the stock motor mounts. Otherwise, the bolts supplied with the AKG ones will BARELY have any threads sticking out of the bottom of the subframe.

So you can do all this from under the car right? I'm hoping to be able to just put the car up on a lift, support the motor and do it that way. Are the metal brackets needed? I like the idea of the urethane mounts but don't want to be messing around with something that may protect me (or my motor) if the mount fails.

How long did it take you to do this? Also can you lift the motor on the oil pan or is that a BAD IDEA?

AKG Motor & Tranny Mounts - I got them Friday. Someone posted that the bolts that come with them are too short and I'll need to remove some sort of cover/plate to get them to fit the way they come?

          Two questions - Do I need to replace the metal Motor Mounts (11 81 1 128 499 and 11 81 1 128 496) when I replace the rubber mounts?

Second, can someone please confirm whether or not the AKG urethane mounts will fit on the car in place of the stock hardware? If I need a longer bolt I'll buy one - but I need to know.

          Thanks for a response.

Old thread but I am going to order AKG motor mounts and tranny mounts, and 2002 shift console bushing for my sheet metal consoled E30. How's everyone like there AKG mounts? Does anyone know for sure that the 02 console bushing will fit?

I've got the AKG motor and tranny mount son my car. They are very nice, but like mentioned transmit more vibration into the cabin. But the complete bolt threw design is way better then the ireland mounts that can still shear in half.

Mine are still in my trunk waiting to be installed, which may happen sooner because believe that I have a leaking (coolant into a cyl only) head gasket and I'm debating complete motor build or just head.

I am still waiting to hear about the metal breckets, etc and the install but if I pull the motor I'll find out one way or another.

As for the 2002 shifter bushings, easy way to tell is to look at realoem fir similar part numbers, or hopefully someone will confirm for you. I have the newer style (i think) shift tower (1989) so I'm no good to you...

I removed my metal brackets, didn't even try to install the mounts with them in place, as the brackets have tabs that stick up that align with the stock mounts that the AKG ones do not have.
